Well...well...well...wat do I write abt???

Today is International Women's Day...wat abt the local women??? Duh...:|
Why celebrate days like these...? Really...in a world where true love and respect for women exists mostly only on movies and books...where does a woman really get placed? Are days such as this, which are only marketing gimmicks of yet another male brainwave, some sort of consolation prize for the bruising female ego?

Movies on the TV, "celebrating the spirit of the Woman", make me want to laugh...wat a joke it's starting to become!!! If I, living a comparatively peaceful and free life can feel that way...what about women from say, rural India, all over the Muslim world, and elsewhere with parallel conditions? I only get mental images of women in those more "conservative" societies, rolling on the floor with laughter, if that's ALLOWED, per say.

And no, Im not discounting the fact that men have come a long way in respecting women, since wat early men times, but hey! A lot more of the road needs to be travelled down that path...and that too without reminders such as an International day for Women!

In conclusion to this rather random post...I would as a woman, only ask one thing from the men in my life...

learn to expect only as much as you give!

If this can be done...you will keep me happy at most of the times :P
