Random Post...
I was on the phone with a friend, and it just happened that we both started talking at the same time more than once:
Me: Hey...we seem to be starting off at the same time...weird...
Him:Yeah, right...oops sorry, yeah yeah!!! :P
Me: Well...okay...i dunno if both yeah, right and yeah yeah were the right things I was expecting you to say...
Him: (Jumping to another topic before I can get a grip!!) Hey Ill tell u a joke okay?
Me: Go ahead...it better be funny! :|
Him: It will it will...there s this conference of philosophers who specialise in languages...One philosopher tells the crowd: "I know languages where double negatives are used to convey something positive, and I also know of languages where they are used to convey something extremely negative...but I don't know of any language where a double positive is used to convey a negative".
Another philosopher gets up and says: "Yeah, yeah (watever??)" :D
Hope you guys got the joke!!!!! :D
This is the first joke I got almost instantly!!! I found it hilarious!!!
And damn smart as well!! :D
There s this entire (but, small :D) book on the history of jokes, apparently...that's where this particular joke came from...this one is rated as one of the best in terms of its spontaneity, as reported by my friend (who s read that book ;D)
Jokes are the more controlled expression of our suppressed feelings and emotions, apparently again! If that were true:
Im sure most of us would have laughed or at least smirked at the new series of Sprite ads...where there is the athletic and "smart" looking guy and the fat and of course, dumb guy...who acts like he knows all the tricks of the trade when it comes to impressing girls...our smart, (note) athletic guy whereas very "smartly" approaches the girl directly and impresses thus.
Okay. NOT FUNNY. :|
Why? Why does the dumb one need to be essentially fat?
Does that mean, fat people are dumb? Or if you're dumb, you've gotta be fat? How does the logic wrk, come again will ya???
And in that particular ad, where the girl enters with a dog named KILLER, the fat guy after being told the dog's name goes: "Killer? Macho eh?? Like meeeeee" DUH. Macho guys are usually those with a lot of bulk rite??? Maybe, well toned, but still a lot of bulk. So why this implied derogatory comment? SICK.
So if this ad was supposed to be funny, well it must have a joke...which is a "controlled expression of our suppressed feelings and emotions". This ad definitely is a joke on the fat guy...so does it mean that the thin guys have so much suppressed bullhit in them that need vent through ads like these???
Why should the smart one always be gud looking and let's not forget, athletic or thin? Then who are nerds and geeks??? Aren't they supposed to look bad, but be smart?? I wish such discrimination would stop...really painful to see such crap ads becoming a hit amongst the youth...what are we? A bunch of bullies???
Pseudo-nerd likes jokes, as long as they are simply, plainly funnily just a JOKE! :|
